How does one disable the slide out launch bar in Gnome 3?

I loved Gnome 2, but I am trying to get used to Gnome 3. There are lots of things I don't like about Gnome 3, but here is my biggest annoyance. If I have window with a scroll bar close to the right edge of the screen, and I move the cursor to the scroll bar, a launch bar jumps out and blocks access. How do I prevent this?

If you don't like Gnome 3, why use it? If you're used to Ubuntu, switch to Mint and use Mate.

You will get the Gnome software with Mint.

Alternatively, install and use another desktop on Ubuntu. You can still run the software you like as long as the required libraries are on the HDD, regardless of the desktop/window manager you use.

I appreciate the suggestions. Both said to try something else rather than to try to configure Gnome 3. I have settled on Wheezy with Gnome Classic. I consider the thread closed.
