How Do I Disable But Not Erase Panel Toolbar?

Greetings!

I have both a MATE and XFCE accounts on my MAYA flash drive. I wish to set up Docky on the MATE account but there's nothing in session manager and I can't Google any way to disable the current panel toolbar. I only want to disable it, not kill it's set-up configuration in case I decide to go back. If the same disable method also works for XFCE please inform me.

I don't know Mate or Docky, but I do the following (all three) in Gnome/KDE with Cairo-dock;
1. Set panel to not fill the screen,
2. Move the panel to another screen edge, &
3. Set the panel to auto hide when not in use.

Do you/have you looked for settings like these in Mate?

Sadly, it seems you can only delete panels, not disable them!

But it feels like there ought be a way!
