I have recently installed Kubuntu 8.04 w/KDE 4. At first the changes from KDE 3.x seemed unusable, but I'm slowly getting a handle on the new UI. One of the things that I still haven't figured out is how to add a new application to kickoff. kappfinder doesn't find the application (oXygen 7.2 xml editor) even though I have added a symlink to it in /usr/bin/. Perhaps I just need to find a tutorial on creating plasmoids/widgets. Any links, pointers, revelations? I am much too lazy to launch it from "Run command" every time. TIA.
If I right-click on kickoff, the choices are: "Application Launcher Settings", "Panel Settings", "Add Widgets", and "Remove this Application Launcher". Unlike the application launcher in KDE 3, there is no menu editor option. What do I do to add/enable this option?
Based on your answer, I was able to launch kmenuedit using "Run Command". Thanks for the help.

That's the panel. The "kickoff" is the 'K' that you click to get the application(s) menu. Glad you got it sorted in the end.
I did right-click the "K". Just like I would have for KDE 3, but that option is not available in KDE 4, at least, not in Kubuntu 8.04's default configuration thereof. I'd still like to know how to add the menu editor to the context menu for kickoff. Any suggestions there?
