Googletalk linux app with sound notiffication

Hello,

please is there any linux app which supports google talk mesaging? besides pidgin, i need some lightweight + sound notiffications, the pc internal speaker would be neat. thx

my os: debian 6
gnome desktop

Empathy might fit the bill. It's in Debian by default.

Menu entry was not added into Gnome, so i run from command line, but when i click Edit/Accounts in Empathy menu, it does nothing.

I don't know where the menu entry would end up in gnome, I haven't used it in years. In Xfce, it goes in the Internet category. I can't recall how to add accounts in Empathy, I haven't used it in a long time either. Pidgin works for me. Out of curiosity, what do you have against Pidgin?
