Your Xserver is restarting. You can try and diagnose the problem by looking at /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old . If it isn't obvious, post the file here.

Since rew doesn't take up the slack...

Quote:
...
(II) LoadModule: "i810"
(WW) Warning, couldn't open module i810
(II) UnloadModule: "i810"
(EE) Failed to load module "i810" (module does not exist, 0)
...
Something is obviously wrong here. Try to get the module and store a copy where X-modules are kept (no idea myself ). HTH.

I think you need this file:
xserver-xorg-video-intel: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/i810_drv.so

it's in the package listed. Install or re-install it.

I think I'm getting 24-hourly update EMails when someone posts. If I'm then very busy, I might forget about it altogether. So if after say 48 hours I haven't come back you can consider pinging me to life again by posting a small message. Preferably with some extra info besides the "ping".

Still, the module being missing should not generate the observed effect. The module missing means that the X server falls back to e.g. plain VGA or "VESA" mode, but that should normally not crash. But getting the proper module to work should have further advantages: things should be faster, and you'll have more freedom configuring the screen.
