On a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 I fail to stay logged in. As soon as I the gnome Desktop comes up, it goes back to the gdm login screen. Same thing happens on Live CD boot up to Desktop.
Steps I have taken so far that have not worked:
1 - Cleaned PC (RAM, CPU, AGP card)
2 - Tried differet Video Cards
3 - Reinstalled
4 - Boot in safe graphics mode
5 - dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
6 - kill gdm and do startx
7 - added another user to login with
