Gnome panel overlap


I have a weird issue. I have been trying to hunt down the solution, but I'm not even sure what to search for on the web. Basically, when more than a few windows are open, the fonts on the windows overlap in the Control Panel bar at the bottom of the screen. This makes it very difficult to figure out what you have open. I've tried removing all my .gnome, .fonts-cache, etc. files/directories in hopes that it was saving some junk configuration in there, with no luck. This is happening for several of my users as well.

NOTE: This doesn't happen with KDE, but we can't go to KDE for other reasons.
