I got VNC set up so that I can remote in to one of our servers at work, and everything worked perfectly.
Then Gnome randomly began acting up, the icons dissapeared, and the Change Desktop background shortcut sometimes hangs and sometimes shows up, but the desktop never changes. The panels all work fine.
I still cannot get a right-click menu to appear, and this happens regardless of whether or not I'm logged in remotely through the VNC server or logged in directly to the server.
My suspicion is it has something to do with Nautilus, but that's only because I cannot get Nautilus to run correctly. When I do a /usr/bin/nautilus -c, it never makes it past the fourth step:
Code:
running nautilus_self_check_search_uri
running nautilus_self_check_file_utilities
running nautilus_self_check_file_operations
running nautilus_self_check_directory
If anyone has any ideas or experience with this situation, I'm all ears.
