Gnome desktop not displayed after second login
I just installed from Ubuntu 6.06 the other day, and am having a slight problem. I am getting just my desktop background when I login the second time. For example
- Start up computer - Login to desktop - Logout of desktop - Log back into desktop and all I get is my desktop background (this happens EVERY single time) When I get just the desktop background, I just force a restart and the same thing happens. When I use the command line, this doesn't happen. Could it be some sort of bug in Gnome or is something possibly mis configured? This has been happening since I remember first logging out of Ubuntu after installing. Any help appeciated. Thanks. By the way.. I upgraded to 6.10 which did not solve the problem. |
hey,
Have a look at the amount of free space on your harddisk, I had a similar problem when my / directory was full. Except gnome would always get stuck with the desktop background loaded only. Chris. |
Thanks for the reply. My hard drive partition still has 6 gb left. This problem only happens when I login the second time after rebooting. Gnome always loads the first time I login after rebooting.
