Gnome desktop item, run as another user

When using KDE, the desktop item has an Advanced Options button in the Application tab that allows you to run as a different user. This I find very handy.

Is there an equivalent method for Gnome desktop items under Gnome 2 or 3 ?

I might be completely wrong in this - nevertheless - There is no such option in GNOME, at least, as far as I know.

Thanks ! Really a shame that Gnome does not provide this automatically. I know I can use 'sudo' instead.
