I have to specify the share name. Which makes some sort of sense I guess.. E.g. If I say I want to connect to
I get connected and can browse the shares that don't require authentication to read. If I say I want to connect to
I get the same as above. If I say I want to connect to
I get promoted for authentication.
GNOME 2 gives you a dialogue with fields for protocol, username, password, path etc. GNOME 3 gives you a single field and you guess what you need to type in it.
