gedit autosave and log location

Lost a homework assignment the other day when I went to save it in gedit. Having difficulty finding where gedit autosaves files before the user explicitly saves them. I looked all through preferences and did not find anything. Also, where is the log file for this program located in fedora 17? Thanks in advance!
