GDM Themes

I just downloaded a theme for GDM, but I don't know how to install it. How is it done?

I use Debian Squeeze, but don't know which version of GDM I use (or how to find out).

Thanks.

The version of GDM in Squeeze cannot be themed using the old GDM themes. Despite popular beliefs, it is highly customizable.

Some customizations can be done by modifying the /etc/gdm3/greeter.gconf-defaults files.

If you really want to customize it, have a look at the GDM section in my guide here:

Most still applies.
