Do you the cdrom to install Fedora? Is fedora installed?

If so you may need to reinstall grub (the boot loader).

Have you tried to recover the formatted partitions with testdisk or photorec? Not easy!

Try tho get the ubuntu live cd to load to ram.

with the live cd loaded to ram you may be able to change the cd,

and mount the iso and install from there.

But I would rewrite (burn) the iso to a cdrom.

Maybe with k3b or some burning program, as image.

Then reboot from that fedora cd. and install.

this might help....
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BootToRAM

this might shed some light on the subject...
http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4751

Or maybe the live cd has a cheat-codes file you can

view to see what the cheat is to load to ram.

then you may, something like...
Code:
mount -t iso9660 -o loop livecd-i686-installer-2008.0-r1.iso /media/hd
cheers, Glenn

Hi, where is the fedora iso?

On the harddrive? cdrom disk?

You'll need to describe what you are doing and what you have done.

Because I can't see your system. there are many options and alternatives.

More info. Please write as much as you can, describing the commands you are using,

and what is currently running on the system.

regards Glenn

Have you tried loading the ubuntu-live cd to ram?

This is probably the only way.

the usb stick may be of help, but

What you need to do is burn that fedora iso to a bootable cdrom.

then reboot with it instead of the live cd.

that should begin the installation of fedora-core onto your PC.

I realise that when you reboot you may not save your settings and any changes,

but you could use the usb stick for a temporary /home dir.

but how large is the iso, will it fit on the usb drive?

If so copy it there first.

When the live cd begins to boot you should get a menu, and a choice of how to boot.

F1 or something, then you may be able to type "toram" and the live cd will load in to the RAM of your pc.

From there you should be able to remove the cdrom and use k3b to burn the iso to cd as an image.

This should create a bootable fedora cd.

When you get the chance, make a home partition as well as a root (/) and swap.

This will give you some security if you have to install something else in the future.

You won't have to format /home when or if you need to re-install sometime later.

See how you go.

cheers Glenn
