Flash plays at triple speed

Hi folks,

I am puzzled by my Fedora 11 system. If I try to play a video from, e.g., youtube, in any browser -- Opera, Firefox, Seamonkey -- it plays excessively fast. If I time how long it takes to play 1 minute of video, my watch shows an elapsed time of about 22 seconds. The audio sounds like the Chipmunks.

Any thoughts on how to get it to play at (approximately) the right speed?

this is and has been a known issue with fedora for about the last year

Thanks, John. I have searched those sites. I haven't quite found exactly the same, but the range of problems is, shall we say, interesting. It looks like Flash is still a significant problem on Linux.

mostly with dual cores or dual chips
and mostly with the testing fedora
