Unhappy encryption on DVD, need libdvdcss.so.2?


so i wanted to watch a dvd on me Ubuntu and it doesnt work no matter wat...so later found out its because the DVD is encrypted and no package exists for it, thats y i cant watch it.

This puzzles me, y is it a shit DVD player can play it and Ubuntu cant?

Install libdvdcss, but know that it is illegal to do so in some places.

In the past for Ubuntu (not sure if it still applies), you had to install libdvdread3 or 4, then in /usr/share/doc/libdvdread? there was a script to run: install-libdvdcss.sh or libdvdcss-install.sh.

Up too trying another Distro?
You can just install Linux Mint 9--Ubuntu Made better Plays, DVD's,MP3's You Tube Most everything on Install
