Empty Control Center
Hi all.
I need some help. I have an Asus 4G with full desktop (KDE xabdros). And my control center is empty. That is, when I open the control center there are no tags, no options, nothing. What do I do? Thanks |
I just checked:
kcmshell --list and there are no modules listed! My system seems to function normally, however. |
I take it you mean "Asus Eeepc 4G" by "Asus 4G". Did you perhaps update some packages (more interestingly, kde packages), especially from non-official (i.e. not from Asus, for your eee model) reposities? If you did, there's a good chance they broke up your installation, because the software that comes along Eeepc is not too compatible with software obtained outside of the Eeepc (exact model) reposities. The update system seems to be pretty sensitive overall, I haven't enabled any unofficial reposities nor installed unofficial software on my Eeepc, and still I see (with apt-get) updates that refuse to install; forcing them seems to remove quite a few packages from the system, so I don't think it's a good idea..hopefully you didn't do something like that.
The only way I can think of is to reinstall the affected packages (from Asus reposities) and hope that it fixes the problem. The other way, maybe easier, is to use the recovery disc that came along the Eeepc to create a recovery usb stick and revert your Eee back to it's original state. Though if your system works fine, maybe you shouldn't go about reinstalling it. Just don't use control center :) |
Well, you're correct. I did install some non-native debian things into my Asus eeepc 4G. Everything seems in perfect order, other than the kcmshell and the control center. I would really like to make them work, but not at the cost of reinstalling everything. I need kcmshell to recognize the modules I have, and I would really like to be able to use the control center.
Any help? |
