DVD copying of files - I/O error

Hi, I have recently changed Linux distro's from Debian to Ubuntu, and so far everything has gone swimmingly, however, I have noticed that when I try to copy mp3 files from a DVD disc to my home folder, some folder's won't copy, and I get an I/O error. The frustrating thing is most of the folders DO copy and the properties of those are no different from the folders I am having trouble with.

Are their any utilities I could use to copy the files despite the error messages, if not, is their any way to get the files to my hard drive?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS, I did not have this trouble with Debian.

I'm not sure I can help with this, but whoever can help would appreciate it, I'm sure, if you would post the exact error message you get. For extra credit, run the copy while using the program script (be sure to exit from script when you're done), and post the output file typescript here between CODE markers. To get CODE markers, do this:
  1. Click the Go Advanced icon below your editing window.
  2. In the new editing window, highlight with your mouse the typescript content.
  3. Click the # icon above the editing window.
