DVD's won't play with Fedora 9.....

When I first installed F9 mplayer worked perfectly when playing DVD's. I had to reinstall it and now mplayer will not play DVD's. It will play files such as AVI. When I start mplayer the hard drive light and CDROM light stay on the whole time, but play nothing. I have to force quit Maplayer. The only thing I could add is the first install of fedora picked up my second DVD drive. The second time it picked up the first drive. Both drives are the same with same firmware and brand - model number and SATA.
