Hey mate, you need to try to be more detailed in what you have done, what has happened and what you want. Here's what i think i have deducted from your post.
You have a hp laptop. You dual booted Ubuntu and Windows 7? Something has happened with grub and now you can't boot any os?
If this is correct, what do you see when you boot up your computer?

Felt like retyping the post to help the op. Of course this is me guessing, and i can't speak for the op, but i think this would be pretty accurate.

@The OP, if this occurred during the install of Ubuntu, would i be correct in making the deduction, you have no important data on your Ubuntu partition? If this is correct, why not just re install Ubuntu to the same exact place on your hard disk. If you do this, and you get a Grub error again, then your disk is probably corrupt and you will need to burn another one.
