Disable desktop right click in KDE 4.3 on RHEL 6.5 on a per user basis

Hi all...

Does anyone know how to disable the right-click menu in the KDE desktop on RHEL 6.5? I need to do this on a per-user basis.

So far I've tried hacking on ~/.kde/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc with no success. I'm not sure I'm even remotely close at this point.

that r-click menu on KDE like in Gnome and even on Windows 3 to 8.1 and Mac is NEEDED

and that user can edit what is in there own home folder to undo what ever you try

Unfortunately it's gotta go. The goal is to harden the system and the menu needs to be removed for security purposes.

You can remove the right click context menu on plasma-desktop, by right clicking the desktop (lol at the irony), selecting desktop settings, and then in the window that appears, select mouse actions. You wil see a 'right-button' option with the standard menu set next to it. Next to that there's a red cross, if you press that and then apply/ok, you will remove the right click behaviour on the plasma desktop.
I have never used kde 4.3. The lowest i've used is 4.4.5, and it had menus and options set differently to modern kde. The instructions may not be 100% accurate for 4.3. Either way, settings should still be possible to configure from systemsettings.

Lastly, i'd like to add that this only removed the right click context menu from the desktop. In other programs, eg Firefox, Dolphin, Konsole, Clementine, ect; the right click menu will remain and i don't think it's possible to remove that.
Maybe you could buy a mac mouse with only the one click option for all your computers. I know this is a terrible compromise in regards to security, but it's the only possible option i can think of.

It's strange that it's not there in 4.3, or it could just be a RHEL thing. I'm honestly not sure.

however all someone has to do is rename ~/.kde4
logout and back in again
and the the mouse actions will be reset to the default

you could try to set xorg.conf to emulate a 1 button mouse

Menu isn't there in RHEL 6.5

In systemsettings there will be a mouse option somewhere, sorry i don't have that version of kde, so i don't know where it is, but it will likely be somewhere in systemsettings. The menus have been changed around and organized better since that release, so i'm not certain of it's location.

The mouse is touch/gesture based if you want to right click you just do that just because there is no button there doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The mighty mouse and pro mouse I don't thing are available anymore even then I'll bet it you fn plus click you'll get the contextual menu.

There are single button mice out there, I do think that will be the end solution though I can't figure out why anyone would want someone not to be able to use the contextual menu's nor can I understand why you'd not want your users setting up the computer how they want it a normal user can only do so much.

I don't understand it. It seems that the goal is some form of security/"hardening", but I think that's not the best way (or barely useful way) to go about trying to achieve it. One can probably still do anything that is on that menu, if one has the permissions to do so, doesn't matter if there's the menu or not. If there are no permissions, though, then doesn't matter that the menu options are there.

But maybe I'm missing something.
