Desktop Crashed! No icons, and can't right click

So here's another weird problem that has popped up in the past day. My desktop has crashed. I still have my panel at the bottom of my screen and I can still use the programs that are open. The "physical" background and icons have disappeared. The problem is briefly solved by rebooting the computer. Unfortunately, after a few minutes, my desktop crashes again.

I've tried restarting gnome, but that doesn't solve the problem.

what distro and gnome version are you using? Also what have you changed that could have created the problem?

I'm using SUSE 10.2 right now and my gnome version is v.2.16. Things started crashing after I installed a new theme.

Actually, I've been having a few other issues: desktop crashed, xscreensaver stopped working, and a few other smaller things, but I reinstalled my nVidia driver and everything started working again.

the theme you installed may have been the issue but since you said it effected xscreensaver i'm going to have to say something with nvidia's drivers based on the information you've provided.
