desktop background in gnome - FC17

I just upgraded (finally) from Fedora Core 14 to Fedora Core 17, and my "Random Desktop Background" script now bombs. In the past, I would pull a random image out of the XML in ~/.gnome2/backgrounds.xml and dump it into /desktop/gnome/background/XXXX

But this doesn't work in FC17. It looks like they completely changed the format of how backgrounds are stored. From what I can see, the last edited background is now in .config/gnome-control-center/backgrounds/last-edited.xml

Can anybody help me with this? Where does it now store the "full list" of backgrounds?

you ARE aware that fedora DROPPED the "core" in the name WAY WAY back ,YEARS ago, in Fedora 7.

this "Random Desktop Background" script for Gnome2 on the old 14 ?
if so it will NOT work on Gnome3

Gnome 3 is a VERY different UI than 2

for starters HOW is it you have a "gnome2" dot folder in your Gnome3 operating system
you DID do a full new clean install of 17 ??? right??
or
is this a mix of fedora 14 and 17
HOW did you upgrade ???
for skipping 3 versions the ONLY good way is to reformat and do a new install

you might want to have read the fedora release notes for
fedora 15
fedora 16
then
fedora17
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...Release_Notes/
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...Release_Notes/
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/...Release_Notes/

A LOT has changed
But that is the nature of fedora
it NEVER stands still for long .

It's a clean install of 17, and yes, I have a .gnome2 folder:

OK, so if it's different now, where are the desktop backgrounds stored? I can hack the script, I just need to know where they are now.

And no, I didn't realize they dropped the word Core from it.

Well, I read through all those, and it didn't really help much. There was nothing really specific about background/backdrop locations.

However, I did another web search, and found that there's another existing tool now which makes my hack redundant. "wallpapoz", which has apparently been around for some time now (since 15?). Using this resolves worrying about hacking backend files.

Most people here probably already knew this. :) But I'm adding it to this thread so if I forget this the next time I blow away my install, I'll be easily able to find it from searching on my old posts.
