customize gnome right click menu

Is there a way to add my custom options to the right click menu which appears when I right click anywhere on my desktop or any window.
e.g. I would like to add open terminal here as an option and "new text file" .

I am running FC6 at present and you can get the "Open Terminal" from the right click menu by doing:
Code:

# yum install nautilus-open-terminal
Don't know about the "new text file" but there may be a script for that at the Gnome site.

I am not the root. So this is not helpful
Secondly please tell me something that I have to do myself like some hacking.

Not sure about if this will help but you can check these scripts to see if they get your terminal to open from right click.

Open_Terminal
