Corrupt mouse pointer xfce slack 13.37

I'm running slack 13.37 current as of this morning, and in xfce on my second monitor the mouse pointer is corrupt - it consists of a large square of random pixels. KDE does not do this. I'm not sure where to look to fix this, and help would be most welcome.

ATI onboard chipset drives secondary monitor.
ATI 5970 drives primary monitor.

Secondary monitor is the one with corrupted mouse pointer

That big square thing is when you have neither a hw cursor or a software one. (Use the top left hand corner btw), but enable one of the others. It's a config option

I'm still confused. If this is a config option, how do I fix it, or how do I set config so a mouse pointer appears?
