Correct way to install OpenOffice.org 2.0.3
Hi,
I will soon be installing version 2.0.3 OpenOffce.org via CD. I am presently running OOo v1.1.5 on Mandriva 2006. Should I un-install OOo 1.1.5 by use of the Software Management Control Center prior to installing 2.0.3 or should I let 2.0.3 overwrite the old 1.1.5 code ? Should I un-install all the old lib files before installing 2.0.3 ? I want to do this right because I depend heavily upon the OOo suite in my work. Thanks in advance, Scott Nash |
Its better to completely uninstall the old version and then install the new one from scratch. I don't think OOo 2.x overwrites 1.x on Linux, but I could be wrong.

you are right buddy, it won't overwrite the previous version of office, rather creates new entries in the menu...
so, its better to completely remove the old version first!! |
Thanks to everyone for your help.
Reddazz,... You're always the most helpful to all my Linux questions, Thanks again, Scott Nash Many years ago I was known as Dr. DOS because I always used DR DOS along with Wordperfect and Lotus 123. I would always use the DR DOS to get other people out of their early Windows problems. Later when Windows became the defacto, I became the batch file and WMA expert to rescue the Windows addicts. Now I have Linux and I aspire to be as good at Linux as Reddazz and others. |
