Converting an mov file to jpgs

My wife was recently at a get together with some friends form out of the country. She asked someone to take a picture of them, but somehow the camera was put into a 'movie mode' with the picture sotred as a short .mov file. Is there a program to convert the 'movie' to a series of stills? I have looked at imagemagick, and ffmpeg but don't seem to find any solutions, so far.

Thank you

You can use mplayer with the "-vo jpeg" or "-vo png" options.

You might want to create a directory and move the movie file there first. There will be a lot of files named for the frame number.
