Question controlling keystroke capture in krdc

(I've hunted here and elsewhere but can't find a definitive answer on this. Seen the same question asked many different ways, but not turning up any solid answers...)

Can anyone tell me how to switch krdc between sending keystrokes to the remote machine and capturing them locally? Alt + TAB seems to jump almost randomly between the two. Holding the Ctrl key down for a few seconds seems to do the job sometimes, other times not. Ditto for clicking in and out of full screen mode, or hitting various series of keys involving Alt and Esc, or typing the first eight words of the Necromonicon in Esperanto.

I know that in windowed mode there is a button that lets you send a single key combination; that's not what I need unfortunately. I need all keystrokes to go to the remote machine when in full-screen mode.

Much gratitude to anyone who can crack this mystery for me. help:/krdc is disappointingly slim.
