Connecting standard Linux box w/ XP box

Hi: Just wanted to know if it's possible (hopefully) to connect any Linux box with an XP box through 1394 or firewire. Thanks!

In theory and 2.6 kernel it is possible but I do not know if all distributions support firewire out of the box. Some distributions might require a patch and a recompile.
