Configuring Firefox?

I am a bit new to linx. I am currently running fedora Core5. The Firefox browser has issues viewing sites with WMP pluggins, or shockwave. I really enjoy browser based gaming and this seems to be an issue. Is there a optional pluggin or software that might resolve this issue, or is it just wishfull thinkings due to MS? Also Firefox has trouble resolving some flash on my php site.

is your architecture just plain 32bit? or 64bit?

do you have the necesary plugins?

wmp plugin is not available for linux since its windows media player but an alternative is the totem plugin wich is discussed here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=450509

else take a look here for the mplayer plugin http://mplayerplug-in.sourceforge.net/ (needs mplayer)

You need multimedia plugins in Linux just like you do in windows. My Firefox plugins.

Plugins (9):

* MozPlugger 1.7.3 handles QuickTime Windows Media Player Plugin
* mplayerplug-in 3.31
* QuickTime Plug-in 6.0 / 7
* RealPlayer 9
* Shockwave Flash
* Windows Media Player Plugin

In the browser you can also check your plugins with the url.

All plugins go in the Plugins directory where your browser is installed.

For java make a soft link to your java plugins like so.

ln -s /usr/lib/java/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so libjavaplugin_oji.so

Add flash plugin to that fdirectory as well.
libflashplayer.so

And gxineplugin.so Gxine or xine is a good multimedia player.
