clarification

thanks for the quick reply; I'll clarify the question: I want to change the background and the character colour of the kdm window as in konsole. For the moment the background is black with white characters, and I want to invert them to a white background en black characters. And... I don't know how to do this.

Anisha Kaul gave exactly the right hint. In case this doesn't work for you, please explain why.

In case you want to change the appearance of KDE applications in general, have a look at system-settings -> appearance.

Do you mean that you want to change this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE_Display_Manager
If yes, then:

Suse's start menu (Kick off menu style) -> Applications -> Configure desktop (personal settings) -> Appearance -> Splash screen

Could you do me a favor now, by changing the thread title to "How to change KDM themes" and marking the thread SOLVED?
