can't install linux on compaq presario

Does anyone know why I can't install linux on my compaq presario desktop?I've messed aroun in the bios some but when ever it starts to load up the disk the pc just reboots.

did you check the checksum of the .iso and have you tried reburning the cd at a lower speed?

yeah it will work on my girlfriends pc but she don't want me to put it on hers.

what are the specs of the compaq?

all i can tell you is intel celeron 533 mhz 256 ram and core v6.0

does it get past the BIOS when it boots up

yes it gets past the bios it gers to where it loads the kernel and then the pc reboots
