Cannot Print on a windows shared Samsung ML1750

I am very new to Linux.

I have installed my first Ubuntu (Dapper) on a workstation. I have two other machines on the network (Winxp Pro), one of them has a Samsung ML1750 printer set up as a share.
I have gone through the printer settings on Ubuntu and as far as I am aware I am connected, but it will not print a test page.
When I open the printer icon after a short while it says "printer stopped".
I think I must be missing something.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, which driver did you use? If you use the google search you could find some help. like:
link1
..."I've a ML-1750 and since I have no adequate Samsung driver I'm using a HP laserjet 4 driver with CUPS Gutenprint V5. Works perfectly."...
or link2

If there is a rpm package for your printer you could use alien to install it
alien Howto

Maybe there is a problem with your share. In my network I use the guest account in Windows for the shares (I know it is not save, but it's working). So the login is guest with no password.
As address of my printer I use the IP address. Be shure to run the dialog as "root". sudo gnome-cups-manager

I hope this will help you

If this can help:
I have the same printer and I found I had to use the driver of the nearest printer of the same brand, this was some time ago and I can't remember if it was the driver for a 1740 or 1720 but it works fine.

Thanks Guys

I changed the driver from Samsung 1750 to HP4 and this now prints.

Now I am going to try connecting to a Windows Domain. You may hear from me again.....
