Cannot hibernate in Mandriva 2008.1 desktop using nvidia proprietary drivers

hello i'm new to this forum
i'm having a problem now, i cannot hibernate my desktop in Mandriva 2008.1, i only see instructions for laptops, but this is for desktop, how to hibernate in desktop computer?

Not sure what you define as hibernate, but the xscreensaver package has good Energy Star energy management features. Take a peek at it... I'm willing to bet it might solve your problem.

What i mean hibernate is the ACPI feature of the desktop computer, that saves the entire RAM into hard disk an turns off computer, and then it can be resumed

but in this case i can hibernate successfully but when i try to resume it back, it hangs with black screen and do nothing.

I had the same problem with the nVidia drivers not resuming properly, though I was using openSUSE. This Page sorted it out for me. In my internet travels I also found mention of dealing with troublesome drivers by unloading them before suspend and reloading them afterwards, in the relevant scripts...

Problem Solved

Thanks! my computer now hibernates correctly, that link solved my problem

BTW: i used TuxOnIce for an alternative to swsusp, but it didn't work before i tried that link, and now it works
