Can't install SuSE, Windows reboots after loading.

Around a month or so ago, my computer would shut off after POST. I decided to replace my mother board after testing every onboard piece of equipment. The only part I didn't test was the CPU because I had no spare one. I replaced the motherboard because it is cheaper to replace that than the CPU. After installing my motherboard, with the exact same board, I installed Windows XP. I then proceeded to install SuSE 10.2.

SuSE started the installation just fine but stopped after recognizing that disk 1 was bad. I burnt the first disk another 3 times after that and tested them before installing but to no avail, it still would have a wrong checksum. **NOTE** SuSE installation did not automatically reboot even after having it turned on for hours.

I got fed up with trying to install SuSE and decided to boot into Windows. After everything loaded, the computer automatically rebooted itself; it did this another 2-3 times. I am now sitting at my Mac typing this so that I can get some help with this problem. My PSU is not clogged with dust and there is nothing else connected to the power outlet other than my LCD screen. I have not connected anything new to my computer since it stopped working and I am so confused. The only thing I could think that would be the problem is the CPU, but that is less than a year old!!

Please help,
-Chase

It varies constantly from 35 degrees Celsius to 43 degrees Celsius. I re-installed Windows XP again, this time it only reboots when I plug in a Mass-Storage device.

that sounds perfect.

as you've got a clean windows install (updates ?) I should think the freezes are not necessarily caused by software error only.

you could burn a memtest-iso and have your memory modules checked.

maybe a linux live-cd of your liking would also be good to test if your machine would run linux at all.

My memory modules are new so they should work, I will do a memtest on them just in case. The Windows XP was a clean install, nothing else was installed inside Windows. I will install Ubuntu today to see if all goes well with that, if not, then I will check the hardware for any place that it might be shorting out.

Wow, I'm glad I did the memtest before installing Ubuntu; I am only 2 hours into the test and I have over 2000 errors!! I think it's time I get my money back.

I set my BIOS to the settings I had before I was having any problems. This is also a new motherboard so it shouldn't give me any problems. I tested both of my memory modules together and I came up with over 5,000 errors total and when I tested them individually, I got only 2 errors on one module.
