Bounce/Sticky Click

I have an older mouse that probably just has weak springs in the click detectors. First I'd like to explore the possibility software solutions before going out and buying a new one.

When I click, very frequently my software will receive multiple clicks rather than just one. Due to the fact that the way I use my machine negates any worth in double-clicking or clicking quickly, I'd like to set up a delay or multiple click threshold in which duplicated clicks will be ignored, for example 500ms.

I'm using Slackware and the i3 window manager, so many of the common graphical solutions (such as those available on Ubuntu or that come with KDE) I've seen while researching aren't an option. I tried setting the "*multiClickTime" property in .Xdefaults and/or .Xresources but it has no effect. I read about that solution which, to my understanding, would have only affected my Java applications- particularly the popular Minecraft game where the problem becomes unpleasantly obvious.

Does anyone have any tips?

Umm, two options...tinker with the mechanics of the mouse (springs or so) or...do get a new one. I know, not the solution you wanted to hear, but, unless you gave your mouse a name, you have to accept the wear and tear here...

Setting the click delays MAY help, dunnow if/how...but it could be.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!

I think you're probably right.

Thanks for the welcome!

No sweat Mark. Glad to have you around....

By the way, I too hate throwing stuff away, even when it died on me... :D
