Question

Hello all! Sorry to bump an old thread, but it seemed to make sense.

I have a new install of Ubuntu 16.04 and am trying to schedule the bootloader.

I have edited /boot/grub/custom.cfg, as far as I know this file is loaded after the rest of the grub files. It contains the following:

Code:
insmod datehook

if [ \$WEEKDAY = Saturday -o \$WEEKDAY = Sunday ]; then
set default="Windows Boot Manager (on /dev/sda1)"
fi
However, it does not seem to do anything. I'm thinking something may have changed since this post was made, can anyone point me to some documentation for datehook?

Thanks!

dr_torch,

If you look at the previous page, the code you posted needs to be inserted in the 00_header file in the exact position depicted (see step 3 in one of the last few posts in the previous page where the inserted text is in red).

The other option is to leave the code where you've put it, and in the 00_header file source this custom file in the position as stated above.

I haven't used this in a while as my employment situation changed and I no longer need to boot into Windows.

Let me know if you still need further assistance and I'll see if this still works in Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS.

ak.
