TO me, this is one thing that is really bad about linux distributions. The whole Ubuntu / Kubuntu / Arsebuntu / Mint / Peppermint / Juicy fruit shrapnel is horrible. Every new pointless variant just pushes me further away from the whole narrow little ecosystem they've built over the last few years.

I think i get what you mean, with the whole desktop = different distro, and i agree, especially how ubuntu, kubuntu xbuntu ect each get separate recognitions in distrowatch. I do think it can be good though, in the way that it shrinks the size of the iso, but i think that they should just do what fedora and some others do where you specifically select the desktop you want your iso to contain. (this is obviously for the people who don't want to download a iso with heaps of desktops available.)

What I was referring to is LMDE does NOT go with gnome 3 or unity desktop and as far as I'm concerned a much better solution !

Xfce was the way...


I loved it on BBC's Click program a couple of weeks ago, "and it's compatible with all major operating systems", then a screenshot with titles and logo's, Windows, with a Windows logo, Apple, with an Apple logo, and Linux, with a Ubuntu logo.... Hmmm where's Tux?
