Assistance in choosing a rolling distro
 

Assistance please:

After 10+ years of using Linux, mostly a Linus Mint distro, I am going to switch to a rolling distro, but I need it to be able to:

1) Install deb files (one of my main uses for my desktop is playing music and videos. I have been using JRivers Media Center since around 2000. I tried Manjaro and had a horrible and unsuccessful time installing it, so tried PCLINUXOS which only uses RPM files.

2) Is NOT a Cinnamon desktop environment; Cinnamon and I just don't get along. At 78. Cinnamon is a bear with which to deal.

3) Has or can download a screensaver (I use my JPEG photos for a screensaver that can change pics every 5 - 10 seconds).

4) Relatively easy to install and set up (Arch may be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but it is a real bear to try to install).

I have a HP CPU with a quad-core Athlon chip, 12 Gigs of RAM, and a 2 TB HDD. I have about 1.3 TB in which I can install a Linux Distro (alongside Windows 10).

If I can get a rolling distro which fits my needs, then I believe I can find the answers to about any other problems as I have both BA and MD degrees and am current in my professional license.

Why not just run Debian sid (unstable)? Or run MX Linux or antiX, using the sid repos.

I tried the Siduction gnome rolling Linux distro, but it will not accept deb files either. It wants tarz ones.

Any other suggestions for a Linux rolling distro which will open deb files?

According this this article, both Deepin and Solus are Debian-based.

I've used Solus an a VM and it works nicely. I've also heard the Solus maintainer on the Late Night Linux podcast and he makes a favorable impression. I have no experience with Deepin.

why don't you just take a look yourself?
distrowatch has a useful search page.
you can specify package management (DEB) and release model (rolling, semi-rolling).
here's a search with DEB and rolling preselected.

UPDATE: I finally selected GeckoLinux as my rolling Linux distro. It is based on openSUSE and runs well. Was able (with help from the MediaCenter forum) to install MediaCenter 24 (converted .deb files to rpm's. and all seems to be working well. As of now, Gekko has everything I wanted in a rolling distro. And the install and subsequent information taught me a lot. Thanks everyone who made suggestions. I'm sure to have more questions for y'all later.
