Are Gnome Shell and Cinnamon Themes compatable?

I've once again decided to redesign the looks of my desktop.

So I've seen some really nice themes for Gnome Shell and some Nice themes with Cinnamon.

So basically what I want to know, have any of use used a Cinnamon theme for Gnome Shell vice versa and how did it go?

I understand some themes with be distribution specific due to the way they are built, but I was hoping somebody could answer this question before I install the Desktop. Using Fluxbox at the moment.

Yea thats what I was thinking, I actually installed Gnome shell just a few mins ago and got irriated with it within the first few mins and canned it. So I'm prolly going to play with Cinnamon and see how that goes.

Since its not offically support for Debiain Wheezy or Jessie, I guess I'll give the one a shot from sid and if that fails, well I guess I can build it my self.

Why don't you install LMDE Cinnamon, point the repositories to Debian and be done with it?

As far as compatibility I can't see why not. Cinnamon is based on Gnome and while it has differences the underlying structure is there. If I were you I'd give it a go and see what happens.

Yea, I am thinking about doing that, Right now I'm using Debian Testing aka Jessie, and I installed Cinnamon from Sid and right away, right when I clicked the menu, it crashed. Not really sure why, but obviously its in unstable for a reason lol.

I'll prolly try LMDE version and see how it works.
