I'm looking for folks who use their smartphone as a digital input to a computer workstation for programs such as GIMP and Inkscape and LibreOffice Draw. One way to accomplish that involves an Android app called
GfxTablet and an associated user-mode driver for Linux.
If you want routine access to this sort of digital input, you need the driver loaded and running all the time. How are other folks making that happen?
- Did you start the driver at system boot?
- Did you create a launcher script or similar so that the several programs (GIMP, Inkscape, &c) start the driver?
- Have you found other uses for this technology?
- Have you found and slain any dragons surround this technology?
If you dabble in digital art or even simply line drawing for presentations, you might want to explore
GfxTablet app for Android. This app cooperates with a "driver" running on your workstation. They use a wifi connection and enable you to "draw" on your smartphone screen and move the cursor around on your workstation. (I've used it to drive Inkscape for some simple images.)
Merci d'avance,
