Any one has idea about dual boot (Linux + windows8), In desktops those are coming wit

I taken new desktop (P6-2356In) , it has windows8 pre installed.
If I am installing linux ( obuntu or redhat) in the same desktop. I am not able to boot with windows8. I am getting UEFI error for windos. I did some change in bios( disable secure boot) but that is not fixing my issue...

Please help me on this with any workaround or soln.. :)

thank you.

How did you install linux and where? If you installed linux to a second drive you can install a boot loader like grub that will give you a choice when booting the computer. Didn't the installation recognize that there was an existing windows partition? Sounds strange...

From reading these forums people are having problems with Windows 8, secure boot and Linux.

Ypu need to explain a bit more what your problem is. Are you able to boot Linux successfully now? Is it possible to re-enblae secure boot and boot into Windows8?

Just had this battle, and I think I went as far as any non-developer could go.

I'm single booting. I bought a 60G ssd, formatted it MBR and put linux on that. With my bios

GPT disks must be uefi - and the bios may as well have been written by m$ :-(. The critical factor is that the bootloader has to be modified, AFAICT under windows, for the sake of the BIOS, not for the sake of UEFI. My bios supports them as legacy. This effectively precludes dual boot except with 2 hard disks.

I've tried windows 8. It is really SO AWFUL you do not want it under any circumstances. Never. People are unaminous about that.
