Amarok can't write to iPod

Hi folks,

I am using an iPod shuffle, and a Nano, which I have no problems with using GTKiPod.

When using Amarok, everything seems to go well: it detects, writes to them, etc. However, when I actually try to play the songs from my iPod, I get nothing...

Has anyone experienced this problem before?

Thanks

I thought it was GTKpod and not GTKiPod. Anyway.

Did you mount and umount it correctly? Mounting probably goes right if you get no errors during write, but after that you need to first disconnect it from Amarok (using the toolbar button), and if you haven't configured the post-disconnect commands, then manually umount the iPod device, or if you use KDE (or Gnome), "Safely unmount" the device by right-clicking the desktop icon of the mounted device and taking it out from there. If you don't umount it correctly the data may not actually get written, since in some cases it's really written to the device only when you umount it.

Do you have all of the relevant codecs installed and did you compile Amarok with iPod support?

bOuncer: yes, I did disconnect from Amarok and umount. "GTKpod", thanks.

XavierP: I didn't actually compile Amarok myself: just using the version that came with Slackware 11. I will compile the latest version of Amarok soon and see if I get better results.

I don't see how Amarok could detect my iPods, list all songs, and then write to them without iPod support... Anyways, if recompiling is a successful workaround then I will gladly go that route. Thanks.

Compiled Amarok 1.4.4, and everything works perfectly. (Slackware 11.0 - 2.6.19)

I just used ./configure with no parameters and iPod support was included by default. Thanks for the advice!
