I am 72yrs old so I'm quite slow
My computer is Intel P111 .701Pr 256 Ram XPPro.
I am considering trying Linux but I need help
My main software is Finale 2001 can any body help

What sort of help are you after? If you are asking for advice on a distribution to start with, I would suggest Ubuntu as it offers a very easy install and you can be up and running in around 20 minutes.
Thanks for replying I am sorry for being misleading I meant would linux be suitable for finale, I still have a lot to learn about finale so thank you for being so helpful
There seems to so many different types for Linux which would I go for.

You're going to have to try a few distros to see what you like. Linux is Linux but the distros go about things slightly different one to the next. Read about them. You might want to try a live CD. Set your machine to boot from CD then put it in and boot from it.
