can any one tell me how to download those its always sayin somtin like not surported and i am new to ubuntu so any help will be cool

I would suggest using MPlayer instead of Realplayer. The MPlayer plugin handles just about any type of media you may encounter (including real, quicktime, and windows media).

As far as adobe reader, you can simply download the tar.gz file from their website and manually install it. You can find directions on this if you google around.

There should be some deb packages floating around for both of these that will easily install them for you.

this just got me downloading files i am trying to use ubuntu because my windows got really messed up so if u can walk me thru plz

If you want to install real player and the ubuntu repositories don't have it then follow the directions on the link I gave you.
* download the RealPlayer10GOLD.rpm file.
* login as root
* run the command "rpm -i RealPlayer10GOLD.rpm"

You run that command in the same dir that you have the .rpm file in. Decide if you want to install it globally or in userspace. The command to launch real player is realplay. Make your self a symlink and icons if the installer does not make them. I've never used ubuntu, I assume there is a real player package for it in the repository. That would be easier, if not get the .rpm and install it.

I think that there is a readme file that comes with acroread. If there isn't acroread in ubuntu's repo then get the .tar.gz, untar it. Then look for the read me and follow instructions.

That won't work for Ubuntu. Ubuntu is Debian based, not RPM based.

For non-RPM based distros you can download the file RealPlayer10GOLD.bin, the run that file (you probably need to do this from a root terminal) to launch an interactive installer.

IIRC the installer created all the icons you need, but if it doesn't you can launch RealPlayer with the command "realplay" and create icons to that command.

I still think ubuntukid would be better off installing MPlayer than Realplayer. Using MPlayer, flash, and adobe reader, I have really all the plugins I ever need.

I will admit MPlayer can be confusing for newbies to setup and install if they don't have a package to do it for them, but trust me it is worth the work.

I know there are debian packages available, but I don't know how stable they are. I personally do not use debian-based distros currently.
