Adding right and mid. click-on-the-desktop menus to GNOME

Is there some way to create right-click, middle-click menus to the desktop of GNOME, such that: when you right-click on the empty regions of the Desktop, you find the "Applications" menu (incl. the "Administration" menu, "Lock Screen", and "Quit..."); and when you middle-click on the desktop in GNOME, you find a task list of currently running software la TWM.
