Searching the planet for a way to play ABC/Fox/Oprah streaming media via the movenetworks.com player.
The movenetworks player is known not to work with Linux natively, and I haven't heard of anyone being able to get it working with WINE/Firefox/etc.
What I've tested (confirmed by others who have tested this as well):
Firefox 3.5.2, installed in WINE 1.1.27 on Ubuntu 9.04 GNU/Linux (32 bit)
I posted some digg.com entries about the issue... here's the more popular one is entitled
Mr. Obama's DNC speeches BLOCKED from LINUX by movenetworks.
Does anyone have a workaround to be able to see ABC full episodes with Linux?
Linux users need to come together on this or we are going to get blocked even further from online streaming TV. Submit your complaints to the FCC / DOJ - Antitrust / your Congressman / whitehouse (dot ) gov / local media providers / etc. If anyone has another way to attack this problem - by all means, please comment. I believe THIS ISSUE IS HIGH PRIORITY because it is a potential barrier for people to switch to Linux from other operating systems.
Thanks!
