I am trying something similar. I want to put a Wildcat4 7110 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 and have had no luck getting it to work. The newest version they support is RHEL3 which is just doesn't have the structure needed. It has 2.4 kernel and doesn't include yum support, package availability is not there either.
RHEL4 can be bolstered considerably since it is compatible with FC3 which is still a fairly recent version and has available packages and such.
I've tried renaming kernel source directories or duplicating them when necessary, but problems always make themselves known. Sometimes it can't find the X11 directory and so on.
It's difficult, because the card doesn't seem to support the VESA standard. It's listed as an unsupported VGA card. That seems to limit it to text only with the standard 640x480 resolution. Although the Wildcat4 is listed as having VESA support.
3Dlabs doesn't work in the WorkStation graphics arena anymore, they shifted to consumer grade portable electronic applications. These cards are getting older and every six months radical changes to the Linux OS occur. With an aging card, support is hard to find.
It would seem less of a waste if the card wasn't so powerful. As it stands, I have to replace a real beast of a card for a GeForce 6200 LE. They supported Windows better, but OpenGL work under Windows is a nightmare.
I'll report back if I get better results. I'm trying to contact them to find out if the Realizm drivers are compatible with the Wildcat4 series.
