1366x768 resolution with VESA or FB

Hi all,

I've got HP notebook (ProBook 4510s) with recent Intel GM45 graphics. My problem is that the i915 driver generates huge amount of interrupts causing my battery to die in half the time compared to running Windows.

My problem is described in detail here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...el/+bug/495596

My question is:

Is it possible to achieve 1366x768 resolution (native resolution of the LCD panel) without intel driver?

I see two options:
1) vesa
2) fbdev

What I've tried so far (being unlucky):
VESA with modified xorg.conf (all the rest relies on hal/devicekit)
VESA with custom modelines (generated by gtf)
intelfb via kernel (does not work in Arch)
latest intel driver (xf86-video-intel-newest 2.9.99.902-3)

The highest possible resolution I was able to get was 1024x768 via VESA.
intelfb did not work for me.

I'm using Karmic/Lucid + Arch linux in dualboot. Choose whichever you want. I'll switch to the one which will work.

I can provide any logs you wish.

Please, avoid "I guess" and "Try this" advices.

Thank You in advance.
