Installing Canon TS5160 scanner in Deepin 15.11.Desktop

Greetings all.
Because of a hard drive failure, I have had to re-install my Deepin o/s. So far all is working including my Canon TS5160 printer via wifi.
I have not been able to get the scanner to connect. The installation was done using the following commands:

cd Downloads
tar -zxvf scangearmp2-3.20-1-deb.tar.gz
cd scangearmp2-3.20-1-deb
sudo ./install.sh

I tried to start scangear through the terminal but got an error saying that "libpango1.0-0 was not installed".

I installed that lib but still have the same problems of "scanner not found"

Lsusb gives the following:

Bus 002 Device 002: ID 152d:0578 JMicron Technology Corp. / JMicron USA Technology Corp.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 012: ID 04a9:1825 Canon, Inc.
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 045e:0745 Microsoft Corp. Nano Transceiver v1.0 for Bluetooth
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0a5c:21e8 Broadcom Corp. BCM20702A0 Bluetooth 4.0
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0bda:b00a Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
Bus 001 Device 002: ID aa55:0610
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

What is most annoying is that the scanner worked fine on wifi before the hdd failure.

Appreciate any help offered.

PC is a HP Desktop 290-a0002a

Regards

A firewall issue perhaps? If active, you need to allow incoming packets on port 8612 (TCP/UDP)

Hi Ferrari,
Tks for the info.
Have been doing some more checking - firewall turns out to be not the problem.
However, I did find a typo in the package name - a 2 where I should have had a 5.
Because I did a copy/paste when running the commands in the terminal, I kept on
inputting the error.
After correcting that error, I now have a scanner which works with a usb cable,
Now have to work out how to get it to work on Wi-Fi.
I am sure the setup I had before brought up a two panel screen when I selected the printer from the dock, and that two panel gave the choice of printing or scanning. I will keep searching.
Thanks again for your reply
Cheers

There should be no additional steps as far as I'm aware. As long as port 8612 is open (both directions), then the scanner on the same LAN should be detected and usable.

Solved

Hi,
Success.
Both printer and scanner are now working over wifi.
Turned the machine on this morning, disconnected the usb cable and
scanner works. Not sure why. Have changed nothing since yesterday.

As expected. Thanks for the update. :)
